Felt Board Fun (or Puppets)

In this section I've put together some simple pages to go with the story. You can use them in a number of ways:

Use the sheets as... FELT BOARD CHARACTERS

Either complete the black and white sheets as coloring pages (see above)
OR
print the black and white sheets on appropriate colored construction paper
OR
print the color pages
You can cover with clear contact paper or laminate if you want them to last longer.
Cut out each page.
Cut out a small piece of coarse sandpaper and tape or glue it on the back of each animal (if you laminated, it will need to be a larger piece of sandpaper). The sandpaper will allow the characters to stick on your felt board.
If working with a group, give each child a fruit. As you read the story, have the children bring up the appropriate foods and put them on the board.

Use the sheets as... PUPPETS

Either complete the black and white sheets as coloring pages (see above)
OR
print the black and white sheets on appropriate colored construction paper
OR
print the color pages
Cut out each image and tape it to a popsicle stick or an unsharpened pencil.
If working with a group of children, each one can be a certain food.
- When their part of the story comes up, they can wiggle around the puppet and either chant their section of the story.
Color recognition: First, ask all the apples to stand up and wave their puppets, then all the pears, etc. Then ask all the people with RED on their puppets to stand up, then all the ORANGE, etc.

Things I Have a Love/Hate Relationship With:

Technology: I love how it connects us and makes things easier, but why does it have to change so quickly?
Trivia Nights: I'm your go-to person for fun facts, yet somehow, I always end up in second or third place. Frustrating!
Gardening: I like to think I have a green thumb, but it has a few brown speckles. My plants and I are working on it.
Animals: I adore my pets and they bring me so much joy, but oh, the chores! Why can’t they clean up after themselves?

I earned my degree back in the early '90s, and as a lifelong learner, I continue to delve into the things I love. This includes technology (though I struggle to keep up!), art, early childhood education, history, and mythology as it relates to sociology.

I know that while the coloring pages are largely for kids, many of you visiting the site are educators and caregivers. I’ve tried to share some interesting trivia tidbits and fun facts to make your visit enjoyable too.
