About the story:
"Hey you.  Want to fight?", said the grouchy ladybug.  Eric Carle writes about a ladybug that is in quite a mood as she picks a fight every hour for an entire day with insects and animals of every size.  At the end of the day the ladybug gets put in her proper place.

It is good resource for teaching time, relative size, manners and social behaviour.

Author website:  I found a website for Eric Carle the author/illustrator of this book.  Your children may enjoy a visit, especially to the Frequently Asked Questions section where Eric talks about everything from what his favorite color is to how he makes his pictures.  It's written in a very friendly "voice" that my 7 year old and I both found appealing.  It also has a shopping section.  I encourage people to buy on-line directly from the authors whenever feasible if they're planning to buy the author's books -- this provides them with a bit more profit margin and I figure if they took the time to build a website, they deserve a bit extra!
